You don't think it will ever support it? I have a feeling you will be proven wrong in the near future.

Nice setup, why not push the boat out though and get a quad core?

It's a nice PC but I think you should opt for a Phenom instead

Yeah my goal is to try and keep the price as low as possible and still have a decent system. I decided on AMD mainly because they are so cheap.

This is more for my family but I want to be able to play some higher end games on it too.

I would go with AMD if your looking to save money... The AM2 platform is pretty nice and it's said that they are going to stick with it for awhile so future upgrades will be easier.

Grr, I can't get XP's setup to load. I just get a bluescreen when it says "starting windows". My friend said that it was due to the ATA speed and that I either need to turn it down during the install or try an SP2 disk.

I tried a windows CD I made that has Sp3 on it but now I can't get the bloody audio drivers to work, it also shows "unknown PCI device" when there are no PCI devices installed. Gigabyte's drivers are a joke?

not sure why the mobo drivers wouldn;t work. i dont have a gigabyte driver cd i just downloaded their drivers of the website last time i tried. but you can be certain they would install of the supplied cd. my asus boards and intel board have driver cd's that go off and install all the drivers by itself.

what is the motherboard model? link would be better, there might be a zip install rather than an exe which is sometimes easier to figure out if you have the right driver or not.

the unknown pci device could be something else not installing other than the sound, but these do not mean it's related to a physical pci card.

I tried their drivers but it didn't seem to fix anything.

Might have something to do with the XP image I made...
I am kind of disappointed in the 9800GT's performance in windows 7. I hope it was just due to the VM.
