PunkBuster corrupting your game?

Well I dont know why I cant play any more on JOTR. Was playing fine last night and then this morning I cant even get to the server keeps banning me. I formated my computer
just a bit ago reinstalled and updated and still not letting me in. I think there is a problem on there end.

Ok wait a minute now. What I dont understand is after I posted here I tried again to play JOTR and was able too...THEN I left the game to do some work I came back to play and I was punted along with a bunch of error"s Boy was I pissed off and tore a hole in Nova support..lol..Then I logged in again and I was able to play. No one has access to this puter. I dont use a fire wall or a antivirus or SP2. Cause they dont work there just made to make you feel safer and trust me there not. I am good on computers and I have been playing Nova's games ever since they been out way back in the first Delta Force I know and played with some of the best players around this small planet I am an LRS member for BullseyeLRS sqaud long ago with jazzyD/WidowMaker/Wog also known as Wrath Of God/HH alias HeadHunter/most of LOL boys like Esca/ I started the OS server with pepsi and DirtDober which still ramains in DF2. with over 45 members
I have the respect of many players in DF2 for our conduct of fair play I have banned more cheats in DF2 then I care to remember. Hey I love it But now Iv had it with this PB Bullchit
in JOTR. There going to hurt themselves if they dont get it working right. Oh and thanks for your reply bro.

JOTR sucks big time for snipers lol. But I love the action
in the game play. I was in a server today no problems then all of the sudden it happend again so i caught it with a screen shot but the SS was to big for this web site. As far as Viruses
& SP2 I dont surf the web except for the news and maybe a game to download here & there like Call Of Duty I got today and found it rather nice. The other problem I have is the Nova servers's..They come in at a bad Ping 200 plus on Orange Bowl. And some like under 50. I use comcast cable
should be good on that I can get files at download.com & over 500kps. Nova however on there down load page comes in & under 200kb. I want to thankyou again for your help
I will try. Iwill do some more research on this issue. But it's strange that I can play on PB servers and Non PB And then all the sudden I get that error thing...LMAO

wardogops: you are using a older virsion of Punkbuster you need to do what Omnix says below to fix it:

Get him to update Punkbuster by downloading PBWEB into his PB directory (game folder you find it in) and running it:

It's caused by an out of date version on his PC, not a ban or anything (and won't cause a ban). When he's in game, he could try pressing Ctrl+apostrophe to get the console and typing pb_ver - it should say something like:

v1.173 A1343

We had a new version a few days ago which is probably the reason.

they have 3 type you have to know what type OS you are running: Windows, Linux, Mac OSX

this thread should be move to tech support do to it was a asker to a item that needed to be updated Punkbuster was out dated in his game and making him have error's other maybe getting it too.

by the way wardogops you should say sorry to novalogic inc tech support they had no hand in this and were clueless to this one, evenbalance updated their software.

think instead getting hothead you gave us this error message you would have it fixed sooner.

Ok they sent me this message and I thought they updated all the severs but I guess not.

Note #2: You get this error on servers which run an old version of Punkbuster. Since Punkbuster doesn't allow itself to 'downgrade' you get kicked. There is a solution however:

When you enter the game, bring up the console with the ~ key and type
pb_security 0 and hit enter. That will allow you to play on a server that is running an older version of PB.

since yesterday I have the same problems. First I was not able to connect anymore. I re-installed Direct X and it worked again. But now I get kicked everytime by Punkbuster.

resolution to the pb init failure gdc041

Try using these methods to update your PunkBuster.

When you enter the game, bring up the command console by pressing the ~
key (this is the key just above TAB). Type pb_security 0 and press
Enter.

This will cause Punkbuster to update while in the server.

If you cannot get on a server map you will need to create a file using
Notepad named pbcl.cfg with the pb_security 0 line in it. Then save the
file to the pb folder in the game.

The default path to this folder is C:\Program File\Novalogic\Joint
Operations\pb

This should cause PunkBuster to update and will hopefully clear up this
issue for you.

1.) update the game to the newest version.
2.) firewall never on: items
A.) stealth mod (disable)
B.) Anti-port scan (disable)
3.) PB use the information above to get it going right. {*quote}

if you have not already done it update the newer version
MS net Frame work: Video cards update to run better with the newer version of MS Net framework so you need to get with the times. Net frame work & newer Video card updates go hand and hand

by the way SP2 has a lot of goodies beside security updates, stay update is good, and Microsoft update site check for all type of updates as will. i never had any trouble with SP2 or any of the newer updates for security and windows updates for Windows Xp SP2 or SP3

this thread is way out dated it has no then to do with the trouble you having Novalogic, inc drop PB so try the fix in the qoute above.

you add it to the PB folder as the qoute above says to do so.

unzip it and place it into the PB folder as qouted from above
