A problem causing me to want to thro the pc outside

I just got a new computer well a new built one from my uncle. He gave it to us after we pretty much broke our other one. I no nothing about it other than this

"ATi Radeaon Sapphire graphics"

But heres the problem:

Every so often like almost every 20 minutes the monitor shuts off and says Power Save mode or "Out of frequency" and I have to turn off the computer button in order to get the monitor to turn back on. Would this be a monitor problem or a hard drive type thing.

Also every now and then when I play mechcommander it will make my desktop look like safe mode.

turn the power saver off.

in display it be listed under screen saver a small box with the wording powersaver in it click-on it then look under all the tabs and disable all the timer listing to turn off and disable the standby mod as will.

i use to happen to me playing a game or watching a DVD in my system as will.

it the normal setting be for 20min you can change it to 6hrs or disable/off

it the way the game is made some time the system don't know you playing a game it be watching the key broad to see if it is active and the game take over the setting so the system is blind to it and think your not using it or watching a DVD the key broad is not being use

BTW Vix, games like MechCommander are like that. When I play AoE2 when I exit it does the same with the icons and then restores back to default. Happens with old games lol. Don't worry about that.

update your drivers for your ati? Might work/help. I'm sorry, i remember mine used to do that and I cannot remember what I did to fix it. I think I updated my drivers but not 100% sure. But updating wont hurt.

Throw the ATI outside and get a NVIDIA in there...
there must be a software conflict with your driver's and windows... Might wanna try a older version off the driver software?
