In general terms most web designers charge amounts that are (for most people) excessive.
I have seen adverts for designers that offer their service to private users at $100 at least for every page, NOT always including graphics.
Most web designers don't offer home page packages as the money is simply not within this market to make it worth while to the designer.
In order to get a page like the one you have shown the designer has to spend hours aligning everything so it looks right, and thats only after his intitial planning, designing the graphics and coding the blueprint has been done.
A page like that might take a couple of weeks to design from scratch although a lot of webdesigners keep old page code to use as templates for future projects.
There are only two ways of getting a website done for cheap in this business and that is either recruit to your squad someone who can and enjoys making websites and get him to do it for the team. Or two go somewhere like Geocities or Tripod of 50megs.com, sign up for free and use their pagebuilder services which are basicaly templates that prompt you to type in or upload the text/graphics you want so that it looks nice when displayed.

Also there is a difference between a site and a page as well.
A web page like the one you showed will take a few hours maybe a working weeks worth, but the site is a different story.
Directory trees need setting up as well as the php/cgi for forms etc link debugging as well as code debugging need to be done and this takes a lot of time.

Unless you are wealthy you will not be able to get this done for you privatley. My tip is do what Panther and myself have done and learn how to do it for yourself.
Its hard at first but with a bit of effort the results will amaze even yourself.
I remember Panthers websites from a year or so ago and they looked good to us then but now, next to dfhq they stunk. LOL.

That's where they get money from . If they can't build the site, they are gunna need it updated right? Well they can't do it them selves so they call the webmaster up again and he makes a few more bucks for updating it.

Squad site. yea I can make you one but it would be in my own time and I can't be bugged about making it lol. Mabee take 2 weeks or so.

And ye zz I still remember the days of panther's den! I still love the layout of that site and I might just have to touch it up real nice some time lol.

o i know html codesso i can upload sites and stuff that the only thing i can do is upload sites.I just need someone to build me one then i can take it off there hands and they go on with there lifes and i go on with my life

its true u can use some sort of CMS to get anyone to update i suppose, i thought about this a lot trying to firgure out ways lol. it woudl be hard to make a site fully editable easily. something like a df map site or what ever needs a fulltime webby. a business site would probably be ok, well a small business that's site doesnt sell anything.
