How in the world does it work? I've anything possible to record home videos through it, don't ask why, but can't make it work ... Any ideas? Oh and I've read the help too

what do you mean record home videos? Fraps gets its data from directX.

It is used for recording directX based games or any other directX screen. For example, you can record the visualizations in Windows Media Player using fraps.

i think u cannot record video in media player because of soemthing relating to it playing as an overlay, similar to u cannot take a screenshot using print screen or a video playing.

however i think u can change an option somewhere, sry i just cant remember, but i read about it recently becasue someone was havign a similar problem.

there are loads of apps that can do it anyway. even the free windows video editor that comes with xp, or something like VirtualDub which is me free weapon on choice for most video related stuff

Well, after a little bit of investigation I found out that the videos I was playing were of FLV format. New Flash Video format.

So, I'll give VitrualDub a swing. Let me know if there anymore people!

Thanks.

I've video hosted somewhere and I'm streaming it from there and trying to record it to play with different bitrates. Makes more sense?

in that case VD would be no use. u need a proggy like StreamDown - havent we had this conversation before!?

all you have to do with that is paste the streaming url into it and it downloads the whole lot in one go.

Tried StreamDown. Only able to get Sound not the video. Apparantly, FLV is not supported by StreamDown. Looking for new streaming down catcher upper.

Interestingly there's no Format converters out there either, i.e. from FLV to MPEG or AVI. Converter is out for reverse.

for video think you need something like windows movie maker it do have a optiion to record movies in it, but it is limited i find "InterVideo WinDVR" is very good recording home video clip onto HD and later take it record it to a DVD or CD using some other media recorder program like Nero 6 or some other program.

i have my setup as for:

Cable input>VCR>Tv-Card (PCI-Card)>"InterVideo WinDVR" to record it onto HD then i use> Nero 6 to record them to a CD or DVD, it all so can do Double layer (Hardware DVD writer DL) DVD 2x bigger then a normal DVD-4.7GB, DL DVD-8.4GB

Thanks Chief. But I'm trying to do something different here. I'm trying to recapture FLV file.
