BHD and Vista?

I scoured the FAQ's and didn't find anything on this (probably because BHD is so old, and Vista is, well, Vista).

I've been putting off buying a new computer forever because I don't want any part of Vista and its problems. BHD (and the TS add-on) is still one of my favorite games and I'm afraid if I get a new computer with Vista, we'll be screwed here. It's getting harder and harder to buy new machines without Vista.

Has anyone had any experience with running BHD on a Vista machine?

It should work on Vista.

Try compatibility mode and running it under admin rights.

Thanks a lot guys. Ok, I guess I can quit using BHD as an excuse for not going to a Vista machine (though I'm sure there are others I can fall back on - ha).

How about the fact that XP is just more reliable? lol

Thats a good enough reason.

I've had it on my desktop and laptop for over a year now. Not once has it crashed. Not only that but it's just as snappy as my xp machine was, though I do have pretty good specs. No problems with applications either... Where does all the false Vista hate come from?

I think some people need to try Windows Mojave

Not too sure about the theme. It looks like a childs version of Vista.

Hmmmm. I guess my dislike (or distrust) comes from all the bad press I've heard or read. Also, I hear it's quite the memory hog (which is normal for Windows anything), but even more so for Vista. And now we hear they're upgrading again. I'd read that many old or older programs would either run poorly, or not boot up at all, with Microsoft telling you to contact the software company for an upgrade or patch. I've got a couple old favorites that are no longer supported (or the company has gone out of business!) and I hate to lose their use.

But, if the general opinion has changed, and Vista has a better rep than it used to, I'm willing to give it a chance.

there is a very BIG misconception that using a lot of RAM is a bad thing, the more stuff the the memory the better! the problem is if there is a memory leak in a app... which would not be the fault of Windows anyway.

why have all that RAM in your system if you want any of it to be used?

Did you run BHD in compatibility mode and under admin rights?

(Sorry, I haven't really used Vista - I don't know much. )
