Nuke

Has anyone seen the new version of Nuke? It's Version 7.7. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's harder to put HTML code in for blocks and stuff.

One cool feature though is that it has a place to embed flash files. Before you had to embed the code yourself but now it does it for you.

If ya know what you're doing with it then it's pretty sweet. Makes sites look professional. I know I've heard a few say it gets hacked real easy but that's for those who don't know how to keep it from getting hacked. Any web language or portal system is seseptable to hacking, some easier then others. Most people sites who get hacked just upload the guts and don't work on the security of their site. I've done several Nuke sites and not a single one has been hacked.

That's my two cents......

well said §£a§h, phpnuke is like windows, cus its used by a large volume of people hackers target it. any website is only as secure as you make it, not long ago i saw alot of vbulletin sites hacked due to the webmasters not keeping it upto date, its like any script/software/website if you dont keep it up to date its not a case of if i will be hacked its more of a case as to when i will be hacked

nuke isnt the best to use 99.9999% of the time, trust me, but its the webmasters choice what they use. If you are gonna use PHPnuke, your best to learn how to make themes for your site otherwise your site will look like thousands of other PHPnuke sites, even if you download a theme. There are plentey of modules for PHPnuke that can help the admin interface even more customisble, but you need to find them modules first

No matter what portal system or web language you use, if you use templates you run the risk of it looking like someone elses site.

It's like I said in the beginning of this post. If you know what you're doing it won't get hacked. If you don't have time or the ability to code a site or PHP modules then it's great. I can't say if it's better or worse then an another portal system because Nuke is the only portal system I've used but I know I've never had one hacked because after my Nuke site is installed I take messures to secure it.

My point is, dont use templates . Really, if you are going into webdesign, you are a webdesigner that can make their own layouts, they dont need templates

I think most of them look identical even if they add their own custom banners.....It seems to be a popular choice of squad sites though. Probably becuase you can set it up in about 3 minutes lol...Unfortunately they aren't known to be the safest CMS on the web

Some people take this stuff way to seriously. I don't have time to design my own templates. I don't care if people judge me as a webmaster for it either. I'm a webmaster for a living and do this gaming thing for fun.
