i screwed up...

So I broke my laptop already... it's an Asus G50V

long story short i put windows vista ultimate 64 bit on it, and while it was installing windows "important updates" i accidentally took the battery out .. and yea..

so i think there's a major memory problem.

when i start the computer, it goes to the bios post message .. and then the windows load bar comes up ... does that for a few seconds, and then i get the blue screen telling me windows cant start blah blah error code at the bottom.

the thing is that blue screen is there literally for a flash .. and i can't even get a chance to write down the error code.

so anyways .. i tried to just reformat by doing it the way i've always done, by booting the computer from my windows CD.

so i do that, it says "windows is loading files..." with a progress bar .. it finishes, and then that widows load screen comes up again, and after a that a blue screen.

the error code is 0x0000C1F5 (0xFFFFFFFFC01A000A, 0xFFFFFA80044E1000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x000000000000000)

really i think if i can just get it to format it'll be fine .. but if i screwed it up beyond repair it's still under warranty ..

ahh .. i think i found a fix .. tedious .. but a fix ..

i'm gona put XP on it then vista ..

***

never mind .. i get a new blue screen. after XP loads all the basic drives and what not, it pops up, and it says STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D663C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

hmm i dont get it, windows is facked, but it shouldnt blue screen if doing an install.

i'd give a quick shot at booting in safe mode (this also goives access to recovery console in vista? i'm not sure). at least you might get into windows that way.

if that fails then try the repair install again, you are sure that the lappy booted from the dvd?

if that fails then format the hard drive and do a fresh install.

if you have stuff to recover, i'd go and buy a hdd caddy and hook upto a pc and save your files that way.

actually, what the hell were you doing taking the battery out?

man i didn't mean too .. i picked it up a weird way from the back and the locking switches weren't locked ... and yea ..lol

safe mode does nothing .. same thing happens..

yea it should boot from the CD ... i changed it in the bios to do that .. and there's a screen at one point saying "press any key to boot from CD" ...

and i don't know how to format any other way .. is there a way to get into DOS?

You can create a boot disk and do a manual fdisk.
XP will probably give you an error because it doesn't come with SATA support for your HDD (happened to mine)

Make sure you set the bios to setup defaults too....

That Boot CD has tons of apps to whipe the HDD then you can just pop your Vista CD in.
