Boy Gets $90,000 Along With eBay-Bought PS2

By: Christian Pilling

A 16-year-old boy from Alysham, England got more than he bid for when the PlayStation 2 he bought on eBay showed up with 65,400 euros (about $90,100) in the box. Details about the identity of the seller - aside from the fact that he or she made a very costly mistake - have yet to surface. The system was sold on eBay for 95 British pounds along with two games that were missing from the package.

The boy's parents alerted police to the hefty sum when the package arrived on March 20th. Since then, the money has stayed in police hands and will remain there until the owner claims it or the case comes up for review this fall.

"We have until 22 September before we have to go back to court to apply for a further order if necessary," a police spokesman told the BBC.

If no one comes forward to claim the money, the family may be able to apply to get it back after that date. Until then, the Police, with the cooperation of eBay, will keep looking for the owner.

"We know that eBay is a great place to pick up a bargain," said an eBay spokesperson, "although in this case, we agree that the contents of the parcel were somewhat unusual and we will assist with any inquiries the police may wish to make."

the link to the article isn't working for whatever reason.

He put the money in there on purpose. I know him, and he told me that he wanted to see if he could pay the next couple months of his rent without any of his money. Now he's dead.
