What do you mean by cannot get in...does it freeze up when you try to join, or do you get an error message.

If it freezes up then he has a router that he needs to set up.

If you get an error message which one.

what type of internet connect you have off hand?

is it a dailup 28k or 56k, cable, ADSL (DSL)

free firewall better then windows it don't update but at lease zonealarm will. and let the game run normal.

all so some servers use a anti-cheat tool its acts like a mod host and player must have it enable for others to join in some servers host games area.

you host a game without any anti-cheat item going enable, see if he can join in or it lock-up. if it still lockup even in yours tell use ok.

it maybe they are forcing all to use Cheater blocker or ACP patch. only thing i know if they "players" don't have it enable they get punted out, some host monitor it too.

i play DF2 last night like 20min got tire of it and left, but i had no error from it, on the other hand i seen no novaworld servers up for the game ether only public/password area has servers up.

If it's locking up like that then he is behind a router. Thus he has to login to his router and open up the incoming ports for DF2. Or his cable modem has a firewall put in place to prevent him from hosting, some ISP's still do that which I think is bs.

Ignore the anti cheat stuff he mentioned, because that wouldn't lock you up when joining.

The reason it locks up is because you aren't receiving the data from the server.

How is the network setup in his house? If he has a router and 1 or more computers behind it he has to forward the ports to the right computer.
