EXCLUSIVE News from NL!!

A DFHQ.net exclusive

Hi there!

As you know, over the next few days, we are planning on releasing a new MP beta test for Delta Force - Black Hawk Down. The purpose of this beta is to test the new net code we have implemented prior to the full SP and MP demo being released in January 2003. In the build up to the release, I wanted to give you a heads up as to the character specialties and weapons that will
be in the demo.
Thanks

Marcus

Character Specialties and Weapons
==================================================
Before joining a Multiplayer game, you can choose a specialty for your
character. Each specialty will allow a character to access certain weapons
and abilities. You can change your specialty inside an armory. The
specialties and their weapons are:

CQB - CAR-15, M16 w/ M203, Claymores, Colt 45
Gunner - M60, CAR-15, M16 w/ M203, Colt 45
Sniper - M21 Sniper Rifle, Claymores, Colt 45
Medic - Car-15, Medic Packs, Colt 45

Available Weapons
================================================== ====
For this Beta, only the following weapons will be available:

Combat Knife
A "last resort" weapon. Most often used to open MRE's, but if all else
fails, it can provide a deadly resolution to a close quarters fight.

Colt 45 A high-power sidearm preferred by Delta operators for its reliability and
stopping power, the Colt M1911 has armed the United States military since
1911. The design, including grip and trigger was standardized in 1926 and
remains unchanged. The pistol is extremely accurate when used for single
shots.
Ammo Type: .45 automatic
Rounds Per Clip: 7
Rounds Carried: 28
Muzzle Velocity: 253 m/s
Rate of Fire: 4 rps

Car-15
First used extensively in Vietnam, the CAR-15 soon became a standard rifle
in the U.S. Army. It is lightweight, full automatic and more maneuverable
than the M16, making it the preferred assault rifle for Delta Force. The
only downside is that the shorter barrel reduces accuracy.
Ammo Type: 5.56mm
Rounds Per Clip: 30
Rounds Carried: 300
Muzzle Velocity: 990 m/s
Rate of Fire: 11.6 rps

M-16 with M203 Grenade launcher
The M16A2 has been in wide use by the armies of over 30 countries since its
introduction to the U.S. Army in 1957. The A2 version is more accurate than
its Vietnam era relatives and is more durable as well. Heavier than the
weapons carried by Delta and Rangers, the M16 has two fire modes: Single and
3 round Burst. The M-203 single shot, breach-loading launcher is mounted
under the barrel of the M16. It fires a single 40mm, low velocity grenade
round.
Ammo Type: 5.56mm
Rounds Per Clip: 30
Rounds Carried: 300
Muzzle Velocity: 990 m/s
Rate of Fire: 11.6 rps

M-60 machine gun
The M60 gas powered machine gun is a slightly larger and more powerful
weapon than the M249. It fires the 7.62 round for increased range and
stopping power, but its heavier weight and ammunition make the M60 awkward
to fire unless the bipod is used. The M60 also features a replaceable barrel
to prevent overheating.
Ammo Type: 7.62
Rounds Per Clip: 200
Rounds Carried: 600
Muzzle Velocity: 915 m/s
Rate of Fire: 8.33 rps

M-21 sniper rifle
This semi-automatic sniper rifle is fitted with a medium power scope that is
adjustable to allow for accurate sniping from helicopters or moving ground
vehicles. Introduced in 1969 as the M21, it was initially used in the
Vietnam conflict as an upgrade from the M14. It was fielded with a
hardwood stock and later replaced with fiberglass. The semi-auto fire allows for
faster acquisition and firing, but sacrifices the accuracy of a bolt-action rifle.
Ammo Type: 7.62 x 51mm
Rounds Per Clip: 20
Rounds Carried: 200
Muzzle Velocity: 777 m/s
Rate of Fire: 2 rps

Flashbang, Fragmentation and Smoke grenades
Press the Left Mouse button to make a full power throw. To make a shorter
throw, press and hold the Right Mouse Button. A power meter will appear in
the lower left corner of the screen. When you release, the grenade will be
thrown.

Claymore Mines
Anti-personnel mine containing 700 ball bearings and 1.5 pounds of C4.
Theyare placed on the ground and explode when a player runs in front of it.

got to say that 50cal sniper rifle is a bet hard to have running around not really a weapons of the real world like to see how many soiders use that 50cal sniper rifle in real life.

i was in the US-Army for 10yrs neven even seen it listed any place at all not even the armory catlog as it listed.

50cal mech/gun full auto yes not a 50cal sniper rifle if they did have it was not in the normal service i was in.

it has 2 drawbacks it load (sound) as hell, not much good using the scope targeting on people way out is about foggy scope site i ever seen other sniper rifles to me are better lighter scope in on a target good pts lest sound to them fast load up time for next round.

The .50 Barrett was used during the Gulf War, so it has been around for a while. Mainly used to take out hard targets such as the engine block on a vehicle/aircraft. Not used as an anti-personnel weapon, in general.

I'm curious, though ..... does this mean that if you pick a sniper, you can't use an assault rifle? Or if you're a close quarters specialist, does that mean you can't use a sniper rifle? That's the way I'm interpreting the announcement.

If that's the case, that is going to suck.

they were talking about BlackBelts post lol.

And this is only a ßeta Test folks, so its not meant to have the capabilites - you guys have already started complaining! Crikey, this is a beta test, if you dont like it - keep playing the demo! They arent forcing you to play it, its not the full version so your not really missing out on anything - except 1 weeks fun gaming, and a sneak peak inside the coolest delta force game yet!

Knowing novalogic there will be a 50cal sniper rifle. Probably a Barret m82A1. is was designed for taking out helicopters and vehicles but the special forces noticed that it worked on persons to (wasnt very difficult to test) its designed for distance's of up to 1500 meter. for that i prefer the barret m99 or the LAR grizzley, which are both accurate up to 3000 meter (ITS MINE ). A Barret M82A1 ways about 17.5 kilo. Yes carry that around running! Its not a weapon that you take with you when you don't really need it.

In TFD i mostly work with AW and m24. And when i take a bit training, i am allways better then those barret snipers. but not when there @ 700 yards (gets harder then) until that time i dont use the barret.

50cal sniper rifle its designed for distance's of up to 1500 meter.

here the killer
1.) who can see with the scope over 1000m.scope on a tartget clear.
2.) zore in a person or a target with that scope i be crazy saying. i see a good target to hit with its hard even see some one at 1000m scope way too foggy for me.i be lucky to see any one over 900m out.
3.) even see a personnel target at 1500m to make a kill
now, that kill got to be a dream made in heaven.

as for the other sniper rifles they are great in my book range maybe not that great but hey they are really good for short range sniper rifle under 1000m
1.) are harder to find the sniper do to sound not that load.
2.) some are magzine loaded.a plus
3.) some scope's not that great ether but are better in other area's.
4.) love the PSG wish the range was better, but hey its good upclose to make kills.

it is.

leupold manufactures scopes with (believe it or not) 45 x zoom. specially for 50 cal snipers

in TFD i once made a kill @ 1050 with an m24 with 1% fog
with no fog, it should be possible to hit someone at even bigger distances.

in real life, its possible (but nog likely to happen) because you cant see if its your target or not (it might even be Bush himself)
so in real life, you'd have te be sure its your target but its damn well possible it could. in tfd? nah!

one of my reasons too

dont quite catch that one

jup at distinces up to 300 yars 6x will do

i know all about it

the default fog in TFD and LW is set @ 1024m
this is with fog set at 0

it would be impossible to hit someone on purpose in TFD at 1050m with the fog setting at 1 - which is at a distance of 512m
