eek Cache

while i was sitting on my room i thought of an idea,

if i put a map on a cache will it speed up the map or the MP map loading?
example

i played at RS the map is "blah blah blah" iand i have the same map on my DFBHD/TS directory i would put the map on cache will it speed up the long wait?

use a ssd disc they load a lot faster:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive

delta force does not stream the maps/terrain
what it does it does load the data for a terrain/map like positions, spawnpoints, objects

Hi there, you may be able to optimise some things.

REF: dfx2 (this may work in other versions)

I've made maps load much faster using a highly compressed PCX in place of the usual load screen. (make a pcx the same name as the map)

You can get a cache like effect with some of the game-booster tools out there. (I think MSI used to make one and there are others around)

Their effectiveness depends on the game and your PC.

They optimise your memory and process priorities to run the game more efficiently but in a high end PC there would be no point in tweaking for most games.

You can also use graphics tweaks like pre-loaded or injected shaders etc...

hmm it could be that nova has set some delays between the messages, im not certain
"istablishing data link"
"loading mission from server"
ect.

nova is using gettickcount for global time but its not idle done (what means as soon or as fast as possible again)

it has like 10 ms before it even jumps in again (and do its calculations)

i tryed to speed this up but the timer is connected to everything like the timer for a map also increases

also from what i remember nova only updates network packets all 200 ms or something

other games have a higher "tickrate, refreshrate and so on" i increased that and a wonder the lag was incredible much less

but the traffic gone up also (more sends)

yea an SSD would be like night and day as opposed to a regular HDD. i got a SSD in my computer an it is sweet.. the only problem is that they are not cheep unless you get one salvage like i did.. want to go even faster than that then you can try a RAMDisk that uses your RAM memory as a hard drive.. this only works if you got lots of RAM though.
