Buying blackhawks

Well now it's been confirmed that Swedish Armed Forces will be buying American UH-60M Blackhawk helicopters.

Unfortently don't have any non Swedish news articles about this, was on todays news, but an old article about this can be found here: http://www.defenseworld.net/go/defen...anistan%20CSAR

I think it's about time! Proven platform that can be deliverd quickly. The helicopters that ware already ordered from an other company has yet after over 10 years from the order date been deliverd. They are projekted to be in service in about 20 years from now!

The Blackhawks are expected to be in service by next year in Afghanistan and trainning will start this summer, unless something happens and the deal is put to rest, but I doubt it as our armed forces are in dire need of a good helicopter platform

You mean the order was put in place 10 years ago and they won't be put to work until 30 years after that?

Sweden is officially alliance free, "Neutreal". Some actions defy that concept however, like 2x Kongo. And bosnia was tipping on the border aswell. Selling weapons to waring countries should be on the border aswell. But I don't really know how that works, guess we are as long as the heads of state says we are

But as a leader once said.

"They don't have an army"

Like the Fantom and Mirage platforms it meets or exceeds the required specification for the type.

Rescue operations would be backed up by solid and proven Birds. Like the Sea King.

i hope they know there a blackout on any Blackhawk helicopters crash happens

when they was first put into service! there were many of them crash right off the back, will lets say they crash & burn a lot of them and the news hit about this sell's drop. so now there a black-out on the news feed.

i am a bet shock they even gone to buy them faulty Blackhawk helicopters!

no shipment to them of these Blackhawk helicopters! i would think they cancel the order and buy German or U.K made helicopter's better stander i would think.

Think that's mainly older blackhawks?

Think I saw there was one L version that crashed during Iraqi missions because of malfunction. Which seems to be a good trackrecord

They're going to be used as trooptransport and medevac if I understood it correctly

Currently HKP 15 is used by NBG and in Afghanistan but it's not built for the purpose they are used.

HKP 14 is delayed, was ordered in 2001 and is expected to be in full service in 2020.

UH-60(L?) is expected to be in service in Afghanistan 2013.
