Smile squeek !

I use the "Intellimouse Optical" which is vertually identical to the explorer except the 4 & 5 buttons are on opposite sides.

Using the old v4.12 drivers I can program almost any button to any function. It will also automaticaly change to different game settings when the relevant game is run.

I have a "wireless Intellimouse" but it is not verry accurate or responsive for games.

I also use the "Sidewinder Strategic Commander"

It has 6 buttons with 4 programable levels, 2 programable zoom buttons, programable direction & twist functions, 3 seperate programable modes.

Giving a total of approximately 74 programable functions.

Unfortunately there is vertually no tech support for it.

there are newer drivers? and you're saying this is not possible anymore????
the MS drivers are the only reason why i didn't buy a logitech mx700...

anyway, i'm totally happy with my ms explorer 3.0 (second already, wasted my first one )

edit: the only thing missing is the possibility to bind keys to wheelup/down

correct, u cannot bind the mouse buttons to any key with the v5 drivers like u could with the v4 drivers.

you have to choose a function like forwards or backwards etc (internet explorer functions).

it seems like a really stupid udea not to let ppl choose any key they want. :/
