Angry Who's right?

Who's right?

Okay, before my brother came back home from the Air Force, I used a sweet program called FixIt, I defragged the registry, fixed invalid entries, cleaned up the computer, etc. I tried making this computer go fast and it did go fast eventually!

I had programs installed to help me on the computer, such as eTrust PestPatrol, and GIMP.

My brother comes along, saying those programs are **** and you should only use what's on the computer by default, saying my programs that I installed clogged up the computer when it ran DAMN FAST to me.

Mum says sometimes when she surfs the Net the computer freezes for a little, for God's sake it's natural it being like that, and after my brother did his ''clean'' of the computer, it's still doing that a bit!

He basically deleted EVERY .exe I had and mad me real angry.

The stupid idiot then convinces mum that his laptop has the same specs and it's faster... WTF?

Family computer:

AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (2.0GHz)
128MB DDR RAM

His laptop:

AMD Turion 64 ML-30
256MB DDR RAM

Like I said, I tried to clean up the computer with what time I had at that time, and I tried, and I got it fast, and this was the thanks I got?

Yes, it's a family computer but the programs installed do good for all of us, such as GIMP, for GFX, Shareaza, for music, etc.

I want you to put a bold X (X) near the bits where he's wrong.

There is also a poll for you to vote in to say who's right and who's wrong. And I may rub the sh*t in his face if I get heaps of votes.

Oh, and all my games were deleted incl. installs.
Only C&C Generals, DF2, and BHD survived the minefield until DF2 got a heart attack and C&C Generals and BHD are the only games I can play now...

His laptop is probably faster then the home compute.. but as long as you keep your startup list tidy and your hard drives defraged then programs on the computer should not slow it down much, if at all.

I only have one thing in my startup list on my desktop.. ctfmon.exe. Some office2003 thing that won't ever let me take it off the list.

My laptop has 2, ctfmon.exe and my touchpad utility incase I need it.

Anything else I can start if I need it. I hate programs that think they need to start with windows.. I really hate adobe for it.

I only have MSN Messenger and QuickTime at startup, the rest will have to be loaded up manually. Yeah, hate the Adobe startup, especially an update loading in the background...

Can you please vote? Thanks.

My dad's always nagging as "i'm tired of the comp starting to freeze, uninstall this, uninstall that..." God! It's unbearable! I got grounded for trying to install a registry cleaner...

You're right, but how long have you had that computer ?, its pretty good for a family computer, just remember to keep it maintained, with virus scans, ad-ware ect scans and weekly defrags, and it should be fine, just like scsott said.

It was pretty retarded to just uninstall all your games and delete your files, try putting a password on your logon

he seems like such an asshole, is he one of those people who try out a game and gets a poor FPS count and calls it smoothe and never really noticed a good fps to a bad fps? one of my bros are like that and he thinks he knows a lot but hes really just an ass and convinced my mom and dad not to get a new vid card when i stockpiled a lot of "proof" that we needed a new one, but then he comes in "alright it runs smooth at it is a freakin vid card is a freakin vid card, they're all the same! just priced differently". he pisses me off

your mother seem she can be scam easy. no then will lock her mind in track. bottom line your brother can tell her GOD is back on earth and given birth to a new girl he marrying soon it going to be a child of god, she will believe it 100%

only way your family Desktop Computer be the same if your brother had no way getting to it at all.

your brother is a smuts jerk.

your brother don't care about you or your mother even if both have a game on the Pc he will deleted it totally.

he not a nerd! he a dummie test driver only he has no clue about how to drive.

the only thing their brother like the desktop Pc be is a office computer and it stay that way.

his brother redid their computer 6-15 times a year.

it would be good they upgraded the ram for that computer totally maybe 1024mb would be best for it. but don't think that will never happan.

At least I feel how Mstenger404 feels. My mum thinks the person with more people on that person's side is right. I've GOT STACKS OF PROOF THAT I CAN BURN 50% OF IT AND STILL BE RIGHT!

1:
Mum accuses me of the computer freezing for a quarter of a second when loading something up.
Answer: processes loading up (2 processes), totally natural.

2:
I get grounded.
Mum asks a friend what a good brand for an LCD monitor is, she asks my brother when HE was at the Air Force and didn't know what she was talking about. I told her that and got grounded.

3:
Mum says she can see the text more clearly and says it was my fault downloading programs that made it ''harder for her to read''.
Answer: brother changed the res. to 1024 x 768. I had it on 1152 x 864, because I'm not used to big-ass texts.

Anyone would like to imtimidate my brother for a minute. Don't, I'll spazz out!

Hm... My parents aren't so tech-wise; they don't mind the occasional freeze. Neither do they complain about the text size. Those are some odd circumstances you've gotten yourself into, Chris.

Then again...

They think video cards are "too fancy."
