Post Z-5500's

wooooop
finally got around to getting me some surround sound.

bought some logitech 5500's http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/sp...s/224&cl=us,en

i gotta say i'm impressed so far, infact super impressed. i had a tidy pair of 2.1's for the past 7 years and had no real reason to upgrade :/ however i had an impulse buying session and ordered the 5.1's.

will post up a pic of my setup tomorrow

anyone else got the same?

I have the hardware and speaker system to do it, but at the time it appeared that the only way I could use it to the fullest I would have had to give up my microphone port, which I needed.

How ever, since I don't use the mic port on my desktop any more, I should try it out

hehe i hear ya m8, but look at it this way, i worked fookin hard last month and got paid a fair amount and spending about 5% of a month wages on some wicked speakers is worth it damn i bet i spent almost the same amount on crap coffee and bad food during work last month. that logitech price is pretty high, they were more like $300. which for speakers is pretty low-end, but it seems these are pretty good value for money. it seems if anyone asks what reasonably priced 5.1 setup they should get, usually they are recommended the 5500's at the moment.

i had just received my expenses back from work from the last month or so which was about $450 which burned a hole in my pocket for approx 2 hours lol

i think there is an issue with the subs failing in these setups - which is due to the fuse blowing (i think it's the fuse that you can access at the back). but you can replace it yourself i guess as long as you don't mess up and tell Logitech . as far as i know using the power switch on the back of the sub seems to be the main cause of the fuses blowing.

yup they go pretty loud, but i'd hope so with a sub that's bigger than my car it's pretty swt watching a film and your chair is physically shaking when the action kicks off

paint the walls black with paint blood spots (use white paint as blood on it) use a black light (sheild over the blacklight so you don't look direct in to it) and play away

love your system sweet as hell
