Impulse purchase

Well just made an impulse purchase, just bought a new RC car of scale 1/8.

It's got a two-speed automatic with a 4.6cc engine and has a topspeed of 96 kph and will be driven on the race tack we have in the local RC club.

Will take some pics to compare it to my 1/10 scale when i get the 1/8 (it's on order)

The body is a 2007 AUDI DTM.

OoooooO I love impulse buys . Is that a typo that it will go 96kph or 60mph? If so that's bad ass. How much was it?

Yep, it's top speed is 60 mph

Set me back around 680 - 690 USD (not sure on the exact figure, don't have the figures by me)

my question is, how does one race on a track like that? do they view it from overhead as they race or what? it just seems like it would be hard to control when viewing it at ground level....

They are at the level as of the end of the clip, viewing slightly from above

Damn that thing is quick xD the acceleration is stupid. What do you use to control them? Surely you'll need a wheel or something to corner that fast?

Something like this:

That one is the one I'm planing to buy in the future, it's awsome with the 2.4 frequency as it's intelligent with ID so you don't need crystals to change frequency like in the other systems.

So it's indeed a wheelbased system, there are however a few on this planet that use airplane controls, the stick type that you usually get with cheap toys, but they are better of course. How they can drive with that system is beyond me.

EDIT:

Below is a photo of the 2 Hp engine that spins at 27000 rpm at full throttle Amazing how such a small engine can put out such high power and high RPM!
