the little utility that runs when you first run the game
I'm curious if anyone knows how to disable that or make the game think it's already run. I messed with the config file, but I haven't got a clue exactly what I was doing, so I didn't really change much of anything. The problem with the test is it refuses to recognize the different resolutions my card is capable of.
While Novalogic wrote me and told me my videocard doesn't support the game (lame), I've met someone online who has the same type of card as me (Intel 82810 Graphics card), same processor (Intel Celeron, 1.1 GHZ), and same manufacturer (HP) who got the game to run. So evidentally there is a way to get the game running, I just don't know how. I've tried 3D Analyzer and it says in the first screen of the card utlility that my card meets all the reqs to play the game, and then does the test and again says I fail on the resolution part. I have the most up-to-date drivers, so evidentally there's something wrong with the test and so I was wondering if there's a way to bypass the stupid worthless thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

most of the cards I saw were a bit too expensive for me (I don't make a lot of money at my job and it would be another month before I could afford anything besides bills). 50 dollar card would be good, but it just depends if I can find one that cheap that would work with BHD (I don't want to lay down a bunch of money only to find out the game doesn't work with that card). A friend of mine convinced me to keep the game and said he'd help me get a card, but he has a tendency to say something and never do it. So until then I wanted to see if I could at least get the game running so I don't feel like I just wasted 40 bucks (even if it runs like crap). Guess maybe if it comes down to it I'll go pawn the game off...not much else I can do.

I got the game to run on a 16MB Voodoo3. I can't play the game, because you can't see much but it works for a dedicated server.
Here is how I did it. I downloaded the Demo (which would detect and run on the voodoo, when the full version wouldn't even let me get that far). Install and run it then copy the video card info out of the DFV.CFG file from the demo to the full version. Should look something like this (your info will be different, just enter the stuff in the parenthesis): hw3d_name = "Voodoo 3 AGP" hw3d_guid = "D7B71CFA-4345-11CF-6F71A928AEC2C835" Now in the same file change the resolutions for: hw3d_res512x384 = 1 hw3d_res640x480 = 1 So that they have 1s instead of 0s. |
