There have been very many posts on the Steam version of DFX2 here and on many other sites, whats a guy to do but research as much as you can before the great leap.
I got mine on order from Amazon, only to find much of the pff file is screwed up, see dave61's post on this, but in support of all it's faults is SK's post on the advantages, but only for him to leap over to the sister game COD4?...
As I've mentioned before the gaming industry is diluting itself, with itself, and each time nova slides one notch lower.....go figure!!

M

Using the sg mod I have managed to configure a stand alone version of the Original DFX2, (go figure?) stored for the future when "Steam Collapses."

all of them the month of release...

I doubt you will have a problem with Steam ever going down before DFX2 is no longer playable online. if the steam CD key is the same format as the others then you could download a regular version of it.

Man, I remember DOS as far back as 1985 when I bought my first computer !

It was a Commadore. Everything was done in DOS, Syntac and code.
Back then I was so impressed with that computer !!!

I wish I still remembered all that coding, lol !

LoL Dave61....lol it was 1987 the year I opened my first restaurant, and needed some way of controlling the biz/books so I jumped at a Commadore64 with one of those CRAZY tape drives, the program was guess what "office", it worked a week later I got Rambo3 and havn't looked back.
Yes my guys say it makes me a better person, if they got a problem they "DARE" come to me, better than me go to them, still I can't monitor the tips, we discourage that here in (FNQ)Aus
Nova's first game is available free at the club med, don't be afraid, it will play of YOUR PC SYSTEM SPEAKER, I use winxp so you may open your command prompt(dos) thru your start menu.......

Doom! Quake! Turok!
And I still remember most of my DOS syntax, (some simplistic changes have been made) which comes in handy quite frequently in fact.
Windows is a big workaround still accessible with an elevated prompt.
