tired of ISP (UK) offering "unlimited" access
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Unlimited-ADSL/
"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Insist that OFCOM and the ASA stop Broadband Providers advertising 'unlimited' services that are in fact limited in the small print or by un-defined fair use policies." Many ISP's (Internet Service providers) are advertising Broadband with 'Unlimited' downloads. The majority of these services are not unlimited as in the providers fair usage policies they either cap the use at a defined amount, or use an undefined criteria that only they know. sign up any1 in the UK, we r all suffering from it |

Sorry BB, you may just have to move to the US to get unlimited broadband, it'd be more than half the cost too mate.

I was just reading that the the same thing is happening here in the US, at least for cable users.
"Earlier this month, a Philadelphia Comcast broadband subscriber got a letter from his service provider, telling him he'd been using the Internet too much. Keith, who asked to keep his full name private, said he'd subscribed to the service for four years and never had a complaint before. Now he was being labeled a network "abuser." Worse, he said, Comcast refused to tell him how much downloading was allowed under his contract. A customer service representative had told him there was no specific cap, he said, adding that he might avoid being suspended if he cut his bandwidth usage in half. But even then, the lack of a hard number gave Keith no guarantee. " Source and full artical: http://news.com.com/2100-1034_3-5079624.html I think I will stick with my DSL. IcI |

I find that hard to believe, considering I ran a 10mb cable service for 3 years straight. I never turned it off and it was uploading/downloading all day long.

Technically it' not false advertising as long as they show that small print lol. The same arguements happen here from time to time with infomercials

TBH I think it is fair to limit it somewhat, 300gb in one month is 10gb a day. That's a lot of p2p/torrents. I do see a problem with it though now that download movies (legally) is becoming more popular, especially if they are HD. But still, that’s almost 50 full length DVD movies a month. I think 300gb for a residential account is reasonable. If you transfer more you should be on a business class connection. But we’re talking about the UK... Don’t even know what the limits are there so I can't really comment..
