Make sure you are not joining through the lobby. It simply just doesn't work.
Use this method:
I have quite literally opened up the whole range of DF1 ports and enabled DMZ host on the server. Even still, I get the black screen. In the past, opening ports and DMZ host always worked. But now, not so much.
Joining with the above method works. I have tested it with another computer outside of the local network.
Let me know if that works. Now I'm a bit worried.
