Asagudarna (the gods the vikings belived in) had a pig called Sarimner (is spelled with an a and two dots ontop but can't write those chars here) that when eaten apeared alive the next day, it resurrected each day to be eaten again and again.
There's also a reason why we eat ham at chrismas too, it's because of Sarimner and the pig being sacred in the Asatro.
Our word that we now call chrismas "jul" is a word from the vikings and is atleast 1100 years old. 1000 years of christian faith hasn't changed it
Many celebrations we (in sweden) have at christmas, comes from Asatron and Vikings and not from the christian faith as you would guess (i would defenetly). It's actually reverse, the church took many things from the vikings and their Asagudatro and made them into christian celibrations
