Post How can I find out what kind of video card or sound card I have?

PROBLEM:
How can I find out what kind of video card or sound card I have?

RESOLUTION:
If you don’t know what kind of video card you have in your computer you can find out by following these steps. Click on the “Start” button and go that is already displayed and type in from “Start” to “Run”. In the text prompt that opens up, erase anything DXDIAG then press “OK”. This will open the Direct X Diagnostic Tool, a Windows program that helps your video and sound card work with Windows. Once you are in this tool you can click on the “Display” or “Sound” tab at the top of the page and the tool will provide information on your video card or sound card respectively. In the upper left-hand corner there will be a box labeled “Device”. In this box, next to the lines labeled “Name” and “Manufacturer” you will find the important information about your video or sound card.
