Cool! I think I'll probably max out on $1200 for a mountain bike. I don't plan on competing I just want something that will do well on the trails.
One of the sucky things about some of the super expensive bikes is that they require a lot more maintenance and I don't want to have to deal with that.
You've got guts Stephen; I don't plan on doing anything that intense. I'm hoping to go on a trip to bike Moab Utah this year though. Should be awesome...
