I was sleeping after a midnight shift. My wife woke me up just in time to watch Matt Lauer on the today show say oh **** live as the second plane hit.
I stayed up all day then went back to work at four until 8am the next day. I'm a cop. 2 of my coworkers lost people. One in the first plane from Boston and another in Tower 2.
Hardest, Longest, Lonliest shift ever. I told one guys about it at 4pm, he didn't know !! He was a 25 year veteran with a purple heart from Vietnam. He grabbed my shoulder and cried for 10 minutes. Saddest god damn thing i've ever seen.
God bless those that died on that infamous day.
