I put my serial code in so that is part of the protection and I don't know if some one could crack the game until you install it and you can't install until you enter the serial.

Just me but I look to the gaming community for support like no-cd and things like that.
As far as owning the game, yes you bought it and it is yours to an extent. You can't copy it and realease it to others freely or for monitary gain. You can't reuse any part of the programming in any other application and call it yours. You can't resell keys.
There's probably alot more that I left out that you can't do so if it don't feel right then maybe it not a good idea to do it.
