Chief, you've got it all wrong.
First of all, Halo was built for Windows, Mac, and the Xbox.
Halo 2 is on the Xbox, and is coming out on Windows Vista sometime after the release of Windows Vista.
So how can Halo 2 work on XP when it's released in 2007? XP is like 4-5 years old mate!
How the heck can Halo 3 be on Windows Vista when it hasn't even been out on the Xbox 360? It's not even 50% done; that game!
