I think its about work. To sell large volume of units for PC you need a cross section optimisation. Not everyone has top end chips, and VCards. Bring out for a console you only have to get it right for the console. Easy and profitable.
PC games don't sell in anything like the numbers for consoles nowadays so I would wait a bit too. Let PC economics improve the average hardware whilst your team works on optimising an entire engine to run at different resolutions, shadows on/off, anti aliasing on/off, DX standards stabilised for that generation etc etc.
Delaying a vastly profitable console market to complete substantial extra work like that would be daft in the extreme.
