"First disconnect any Printers, Scanners, Camera's, ect...
ONLY the Mouse, Keyboard & Moniter should be attached when you run the
Quick Restore CD,
Before you run the QR CD, You'll need to run FDISK,
FDISK will clean the hard drive of any errors,
(takes about 5 minutes to complete)
You'll need 1 new or blank floppy disk to make a Startup disk,
Using any pc, go to the control panel,
open the "Add / Remove programs",
then click on "Startup Disk", (upper-right)
Insert the floppy disk & choose "Create Startup Disk",
then once completed,
Reboot your pc with the startup disk,
choose option # 3 (start computer without cd rom support)
you'll get an A:\ prompt,
Now type FDISK & press enter,
It'll read, "Do you wish to enable large disk support" (Y/N)
choose Y & press enter,
you'll then get a Menu,
choose option 3 & press enter,
again option 3 & press enter,
then press the letter 'D' & press enter,
It'll ask for the "Volume label",
type SYSTEM_SAV & press enter,
then press Y & press enter,
press the ESC key twice,
you'll be back at the Menu,
choose option 3 & enter,
then option 2 & enter,
press Y & enter,
press the ESC once,
choose option 3 & enter,
then option 1 & enter,
press enter twice,
then press Y & enter,
once 100% completed,
press the ESC key three times,
[All done with fdisk]
Remove the startup disk, Insert your QR CD & Reboot,
At the flashing compaq screen press the "Caps Lock" once,
After the compaq screen stops flashing,
press the "Num Lock" once,
choose your language (English) & press enter,
then choose your model & press enter,
the QR procedure will begin,
(Usually takes about 45 minutes to complete)."
