PROBLEM:
I have updated my video and sound drivers, but I am still experiencing a crash when I try to play the game. Are there any more steps I can take to troubleshoot this?

If you are still having system crashes after following our previous instructions, you’ll want to try the following: Make sure you have the latest version of Direct X. Direct X is a Windows program that helps your video card, sound card, joystick, and games all work together. You can get the latest version of Direct X from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/ Make sure you have the latest Windows service packs and critical updates. You can download the latest updates for Windows by opening Internet Explorer and clicking on “Tools” at the very top of the page. Under tools you’ll have the option “Windows Update”. Choosing Windows update will connect you to Microsoft’s web page and allow you to scan for updates. You’ll want to follow the instructions given and download and install any Critical Updates and service packs. Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard. The motherboard is the part of your computer where your video card and sound card plug into, and if this piece of hardware is not operating properly it can cause problems with your games. To find out what kind of motherboard chipset you have, you’ll want to right click on your “My Computer” icon and then select “Properties”. If you are using Windows 98 or ME you’ll then click on “Device Manager”. If you are using 2000 or XP you’ll need to click on “Hardware”, then “Device Manager”. Under device manager you’ll find the category “System Devices”. Click on the + sign next to this category and it will display a number of items. If you have an Intel Pentium processor in your computer you’ll most likely see “Intel” repeated numerous times with numbers and descriptions. http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...1_2336,00.html It is possible that you may have another chipset other than the ones mentioned (a common one is SiS), if that’s the case you’ll want to visit the web page of the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard and get the latest update from there.
