Sweden used Beheadings up untill 1903. Greeks used it, Roman Empire (Swedish empire to for that matter), Norway, Britain, Germany and the list goes on, dont forget the samuris either
If your refering to the guillotine "invented" (a simular thing was allready in use in Yorkshire town since 1286, called the "Halifax Gibbet", but news didnt travel that fast back then, and no Guinnes world record existed back then
) as to make it more humane for those that ware beheaded, so in other words, france was quite frank about humane deathpenelties. The guillotine was a very good tool to make a humane beheading.
Electricusion isnt that humane either, it hurts like hell to be electricuted
