In terms of game versus desktop resolution you shouldnt have a problem running each thing in different resolutions.
I run my desktop at 1162 x 864 (or something like that).
BF1942 goes at a paltry 800 x 600
BHD at 1024 x 768
The only problem I have ever heard of is that some PCs wont let you alt+tab out of a game if the desktop and game resolution are the SAME. But that has never cause me any problems.
To they guy getting sysdumps. Try a clean uninstall of BHD and then install it again making sure absolutley everything is turned OFF. Any app at all. Especially antivirus or system protectors.
