You'll have to define "bars." Do you mean the HUD?
If it works like the earlier games I've modded, you can change the HUD rather easily through a combination of editing graphic files and other files packed in the .PFF. If I'm not mistaken, I think BHD even has a HUD.DEF file.
I'd start looking through that file and see what you can find.
