I dont think a modem will work that way.

If you take a mic and tape it to a second phone handset where it will pickup both your voice and the voice from the speaker then you can record using any program that will record from the single mic. Sound recorder will do this, but the file will be large.

All you need to do is get a cheap phone with a volume control, turn up the volume and test to see if both can be heard clearly if not adjust until they are, ofcourse you will need to take the other handset off its cradle slow and quietly and start the recording manualy.

once you get this set up then when someone calls make some small talk until the recording starts, then edit to remove the small talk. if you have the HD space start the recording while its ringing and pull both handsets at the same time. edit to remove what you dont want.

mauser may know of a program that will do this manualy but i know this works for the cost of the mic and cheap phone.
