I heard on the news that the justice department is going to review the deal to see if it violates anti-trust issues... wether or not they act upon it, only they know.
and google does have a "portal" to compete with yahoo now lol, iGoogle.
I checked yahoo out last night after posting that and it does look cleaner then what it used to.
