well one easy way to fix this problem is take your speaker plug, and plug it in the the motherboard, (those slots are usually stacked vericaly)
then....
click start, controll panel, sounds and audio devices,
click the audio tab, and in the sound playback part, pick your onboard sounds.
for most computers its realtek-somethin otherwise pick different ones until one works
