Cool

Here is how to display startup messages using DF2/3 Favorites program written by Deadbolt from a file called a "Notices File" when you are running unattended. I notice when testing this that messages will not appear if no one but host is in the room. You create the messages first from the "Stock Messages Editor" area then use the file from the "DF2/3 World Extended Options" area of the Command and Control Server window of DF2/3 Favorites.

1. Start DF2/3 Favorites application (get v3+ if you haven't already ....see www.dfcenter.com in the Affiliates box on upper right side of web page to get to DF2/3 Favorites Download page)

2 Click on the "Tools" button. (It is next to the ACP: DISABLED button) This will cause a drop down menu to appear.

3 Click on Command & Control Server. This starts the "Command and Control Center" program to start and then minimize to the service tray in lower right side of desktop screen. It is a little yellow and reddish square box.

4. Click on the Command and Control Center yellow reddish square box and a "Command and Control Server" window will open.

5. Click on the Config button. A command and control server window opens. Click on "Extended" button. This will have two areas "DF2/3 World Extended Options" on the top half of the box and the "Stock Messages Editor" on the bottom half. You will start by working with the Stock Messages Editor first.

6. Click on the "NEW" button and enter the name of the file that will contain the messages you wish to create (like startup1 or nosaws1 ) then click OK to create the file. You can create another file with different messages later and call it startup2 or knivesonly...you get the idea. But you may only use one message file at a time until you change to a different one.

7. Now enter your message lines in the white messages box below the "Stock Messages" file name entry box. Hit enter to go down to next msg line or the text box will automatically restrict you to how many characters you may type on a line and skip to next line automatically. Both upper case and lower case will be displayed as you type them here.

8. Click "SAVE" to save the messages to the file you have previously named.

9. Now to use the Notices file you just created, in the "DF2/3 World Extended Options" area , click the drop down arrow of the "Notice file" box to select the message file you want to have displayed at startup. You may also click on the "Auto Net Delay" selection box to have a net delay performed at startup to help performance. Then click ok to set the options you just selected.

10. On the Command and Control Server window, click the Minimize button ONLY in upper right corner of window not the "Close" button on the upper left or "X" in the upper right corner to keep the command and control center program active so the messages will be written. If you close this window, your messages will not be displayed at all.

11. Click Start DF2 button on df2/3 favorites now and start your game.

WARNING: THIS IS TOOL IS FOR UNATTENDED RUNNING OF YOUR SERVER IF YOU ARE PLAYING IN A DELTA FORCE 2 GAME OR USING ANOTHER PROGRAM ON THE SAME COMPUTER THE CONTROL WILL BE TAKEN FROM YOU WHEN MESSAGES ARE DISPLAYED IN THE DELTA FORCE 2 GAME AND YOU WILL BE THROWN BACK INTO DELTA FORCE 2 EVEN IF YOU ARE IN ANOTHER PROGRAM ON THE SAME COMPUTER.

IF YOU WANT TO PLAY UNINTERRUPTED, INSURE the "Notice File" box has no message file specified in it. You may change the configuration during the df2 game by pressing alt-tab and changing the notice file setting. Be careful to minimize and not close the ccserver window when you are done though or msg will turn off.

Hope this helps a lot.... JET=DFU=(Delta Force United www.deltaforceunited.com )
