I don't think we can allow any government with such extreme views and led by religious bigotry such as the government of Iran to develop nuclear weapons. If we stand by and let them reach a stage where they can actually use them driven by their own zealots for a "jihad" or "holy war" we may all suffer far greater consequences.
Again I hope moderate heads in Iran, ( despite the more liberal leadership being either suppressed or imprisoned) can be persuaded not to go down this path as we may all live to regret this decision on the Iranian governments part.
There's appears to be a conspiracy theorist amongst us who seems to think that the West and in particular one certain political party is trying to engineer some sort of conflict in this region but considering the growing unpopularity of the present regional conflict I would suggest this would be tantamount to political suicide for that political party for many years to come should a further crisis develop into a full blown war.
A theocratic government is always a dangerous government as it inevitably believes that "god", (what ever name he goes by), is on their side.
