If Iran develops nucear weapons will they, (taking into account the statements of their current president in regard to the "destruction" of the state of Israel), use them to attack Israel and can we stand by and allow this to happen? Will Israel take unilateral action in the region to prevent this development?
If we do nothing do we risk a future conflict with much more terrible consequences for the Mid East and for the wider world? I don't know the answers any more than the next man or woman and I do hope that this problem can be resolved by negotiation rather than conflict but I do think that U.N. sanctions will be imposed, (as a number of European states are already calling for), and I hope that this will suffice to bring Iran back to the the negotiation table.

Your logic in the last para might work. However, the ones who speak toughest are the ones who can make the peace too, i.e. Sharon in Israel and Vaj Paee in India. Both belong(ed) to the extremist parties in their respective countries who managed to make peace strides never made by centerist or leftwing governments in the past.
However, sanctions I must say, are more counter productive than productive, i.e. rich still eat the same Roasted chicken while the poor suffer. Pakistan and India are working on an agreement with Iran to work the Gas deal. Both have managed to ignore calls from US and EU to not to implement the pipeline plan. India, however, is also negotiating with US to get some Nuclear Power plants while Pakistan is getting the same deal from China. But these deals are indepenent of Iran's gas pipeline project.
The "Democratic" movement in Iran by "students" has been crushed and their leaders are in prisons all over Iran.
Interestingly, though in order to create a negative perception of the Irani government different reports in media are being leaked. One about drug addicts of "brown sugar" was in news recently. Thus, the process of legitimizing any possible plans for future invasion are already underway. I was reading somewhere that the President currently has the power to by pass the Congress in order to go ahead with YET another invasion. I'm just waiting to see the "informative" briefing in UN Security from current Secretary of State. I wonder who will make the Power Point presentation. I hear Pixar is looking for a defence project too.
Just my humble observations.
