ASP has the big advantage in that it is backed by microsoft, microsfot has standard certifications and all that official stuff for ASP so that employers can know what someone knows when they employ them, PHP by its open-source nature dosent facilitate this, theres nothing to stop someone saying "I know PHP! Hire me!" only to find out that they only have a basic understanding of PHP.
