Dr B it has nothing to do with willing. People need gas to get to work ect because they work a good 20 miles away...that's one long walk.
Honestly it is because the crooked gas companies are taking advantage of the public's dependancy on oil. It is sad that our government protects companies more than it does its public.
The US has plenty of oil even here in Utah there are tons of oil wells that are not even beeing used. They have caps on them.
