I think we can still complain...as most are aware, our economy isn't so hot right now, and neither are our paychecks. After all the taxes and bills, one can hardly pay for a tank of gas, much less have any left over for saving or spending.

And that reminds me of another thing, slightly unrelated, but what's a forum if you can't get off topic? The government doesn't want us to just "hide our money in a jar" as it were, yet they tax us if we: spend it, save it, or invest it. So what exactly does the government want us to do? They're gonna tax all our money away if we do anything other than hide it in a jar. And another thing, for most people, if they work over time, they actually make less money because they get taxed more, so people don't want to work more, in fact, they work less. In a foundering economy like ours, where is the sense in this?
