Some sounds only play once. Some loop continuously, others play intermittently throughout the game.
I think you can spawn the once only sounds with triggers and events. Just putting whap loads of sounds on a map and then nipping round trying to hear them all is an excercise in futility.
You won't get an answer on how many sounds JO can play simultaneously either from this experiment or simply from asking because as Sal says, it is system dependent anyhow.
