Well, I tried the No CD Patch for DFTFD and the Save function still doesn't work, though its nice not to have to load the CD anymore. I'll try the patch for DFLW and see if it works in that version....

I called Novalogic and they said that you have to click one of the circles on the map to activate the mission briefing button. Apparently, you are choosing a mission by doing so.
Problem solved.

Thanks. With the radar turned on, it shows everybody except the leader dead (he's supposed to be captured alive). While you're checking, I'll try the mission over to make sure its not just a glitch.
