pfffft banned!
 

checkin' out the sig community today and came across a pretty clean design that i had seen before. the site i was on was http://www.gfx-arena.com/main.html

looks good, can't deny that.

i was browsing their forum and saw a thread about their new design (v.6) and the creator said that he'd worked hard on it. but the design is straight off a tutorial.

ok so i decided to right a reply saying that the didn't work that hard because it was just a tutorial he had followed to create it, and he could of at least changed the colours, but that the site did look good.

anyway an hour or so later i was banned from their forum :confused:

i managed to get back into the forum (using my uber leet skillz), only to find my post was deleted also. i got no explination or email.

it's a pity because they have some talent over there and some great grapical pieces of work.


i would like to hear anyones opinion on this.

was i out of order?
is he trying to hide the fact that 'his' l33t design wasn't actually his?


and i didnt even mention that the i frames dont fit properly :p

i think he was more in the wrong, u said what you said and he didnt like it so he acted childish and banned u, he coullda just asked u to edit it and change it or suming

yea he taken a shortcut and said he work hard he really did not what anyone to know he did a cheap work on it thats really lazy worker.

StevaB is the man design tutorial good job pointing it out.

You did the right thing StevieB...They should at leaste stand up for them selves if they knew that they coppied it.

yall need to grow up. I mean omg. He got it from a tutorial. WOW. jeeze... The tutorial looked a lil hard and he might of worked hard... What if he didnt want to change the colors. Omg. Grow up. I bet half of you know even how to make a decent sig/layout. And why make such a big deal outa this. Its just a gfx site. You just want to think you did soming good. Well who cares what you did , and so what if he did get it off a tutorial

you did say it was what? Its just a gfx site? its is a GFX site that mean it should really be outstanding only one like it not a cheap copy the tutorial tell the basic from there it build on it and try to give a look of its own not to ripoff the tutorial & sample it tell you.

halo: i dont think that it was as much that he used the tutorial is that he didn't
1. Customize it at all used the same colors
2. Took the design as his own (look at the footer)
3. no credit ot the tutorial author

It is impolite to take credit for something you did not come up with yourself. It is not hard to change the color or what not he didn't even do that. I really don't care if he uses a tut, cause I get ideas from them all the time, but I change them up a bit to give it a personal touch. He should have at least given credit to the person that made the tutorial. And not been so ban happy when Steve asked him about it.

thats the same thing that I think avnprd. I mean stevieB was just telling him that he could of made it better and not have made it off from a tutorial, or he could of atleast changed somthings about it. LOL

One question, what would a 2 sec color change do? well ok might take 10 sec..

Im not defending him as i think its wrong.... But my q is what would a colorchange that takes 10 sec, do?

One more thing, he banned you from his site when you tried to talk to him (yes a bit childish indeed) but why not be the bigger man and let him talk here? In my mind this is the same deal, i know you will get mad at that but oh well... I allways say what i think, even if im threatend to to be killed, and yes someone have tried to strangle me for my belives as they couldnt take it the right way, hope you do, have knowen you a long time...

this thread is about getting banner from the site not about the layout. i couldn't care less. the fact is i got banned , either for exposing the dude and he wanted no one to know or for some other reason i dont know.

the links to the site and the tut site were just to porve i was right.

the dude who made the site was saying how hard he worked on the site and obviously loving the praise he was receiveing for making that himself, i just thought i would set then straight about it.

they run a graphics site over there but they used no creativity in the design of the site. :/


i hope you don't think he (or any of the staff from that site) is at all banned from here!! no way, they havent done anything wrong here m8.

i'm sure someone will have told them about this post but he obviously has nothing to say. obviously they have no problems banning people from their forums for something they don't agree with.

i'm not having ago about ripping either (if anyone thinks that) because there is no ripping. the tut author made the tut for a reason - to help people learn. :)
