Hey bud, how much bandwith and what kinda stuff are you looking for?

Good control as in dedicated? Or just a control panel to setup email/subdomains/mysql etc.

Whats your budget?

McGrath DFS 04-21-2003 07:01 PM

Panther thanks for taking the time to reply :)

How much bandwidth would I need for a site like yours?

30gb a month enough?

I would like to have a resource site simular to yours, tools, maps, fourms, updates ect.

As far as control, Yes I want to be able to have access to MYSQL/PHPMYADMIN, ftp and anonymous ftp, create pop3 e-mail accounts the ability to create subdomains would be nice but not required. Determine which file is my default document and not just index or default :)

Budget is what it takes to do it right with out over buying what is needed for a good fast dependable host.

My current site(s) I have been hosting here at home on cable but http://dfseals.com which is our squads site is getting busy over a 1000 hits aday and hogging the bandwidth we need for game hosting lol.

I hooked up on a deal I am trying out for 30 days (paid a year in advance) it offers;

PHP, MYSQL/PHPMYADMIN (3db), 30gb bandwidth, 500mb storage, 300 e-mails, SSL, shopping carts , stats ect.

So far they have been very professional and prompt.

You guys have one of the most professional DF sites out there and that is why I am interested in your opinon.

THanks again bro

This site uses about 150 to 200 gigs of bandwith / month and about 2 gigs of space. But that also includes squad forums and the popularity of the site. I would say start small, 500 megs with 30gb of bandwith is a great place to start. You can always upgrade when needed.

If you have found a host with a good price and they offer what you need + the support then give them a try. And always try to go for the host that offers a money back quarrentee. Otherwise you could end up paying for some bullcrap host for a few months.

Here are some hosts:

www.eryxma.com
www.liquidweb.com
www.hostrocket.com

Our current host is www.rackshack.net . Completly unmanaged so they don't offer any support.

Cause thats not my area of expertise. Sorry, I didn't want to tell you wrong facts. I don't know how much bandwidth we use or anything lol. Thats Panthers job.

What is a 'quarrentee' ?

McGrath DFS 04-27-2003 01:05 PM

Just a typo bro. Should have been "guarentee" or however it is spelled.
