Good Stuff

I've got some good stuff in the wings. _____(Stray Bullet III) Is looking good.
I also have several half built missions that get me and a couple of others smiling! Just how to work through the mission build each time you check it is a bit of a chore. This causes a stall, with the (complexity and difficultly of the mission increasing with events) making it hard for me in "Live" testing the damn things! Any tools I can use beside neutering, re-positioning "StartPlayer" or hiding AI?

Ask yourself stompem, would you build a boiler like you build a map?????

Guest001 06-16-2010 03:54 AM

Matey...where are your maps?
If I tried to build a boiler in my first year or two as an apprentice, it wouldn't be much good don't you think?
If you can grasp the analogy you might have yourself a bit of a revelation and get off my back. Please? :angel:

map editor don't have to be close out to testing the map out in the game ether. i done it many times in the pass.

get done with a map using map editor export to the game! (without getting out of the map editor) then start the game host it like lan. this way you find anything need correcting to it. if you need to fix something exit out of the game then go to the map editor correct what is needed. after export to game again to do the testing of it. so on so on.

i retire from making maps for NL-games

Welcome to our world, Stomp.

Again, good question ! Where's the maps ?

Confucius says:
"What the superior man seeks is in himself; what the small man seeks is in others."

Boy do I love Confucius...

"A fear of ones own self-worth can be a greater and more senseless menace than all others."...my own quote from what I have understood from Confucius' writings.

Also: "I have the oven, so I can bake it, if you tell me, the recipe again."

In finishing:
Is it such that the fear there may be personal criticism directed at ones-self, can set a man on the path to cynicism.

I keep getting killed before I reach the point of examination unless I make a testmap with the start player position close to the point in question but the the AI gets screwed up and so I guess I need a "map tester" (Human) who can waltz it in and find the glitches:owneddan:

Please define Stomp.
/Either click the ai to blind or perhaps you too Green, or perhaps clip an event, so ai favour another blue ai on the same waypoint,
anyway I prefer the wac in moments like these, examinr Kyle wac for commands that may assist

"You to Green, or perhaps clip an event so ai favour another blue ai on the same waypoint."

Now that is a good idea! I go in as green and be observer so to speak. Limited in some fuller aspects but breaking up a mission into sub missions under such a scheme I believe will solve my problem to a greater extent. Thanks :)

This works

if hidessn(2) then
endif

But how do I unhide him?

I tried

if chain(5) then
unhidessn(2)
endif

MERMITE 06-24-2010 01:42 AM

Stomp, you are stumbling in the dark, please define your "I need the AI to work",
How can you possibly EXPECT Dave61 and the likes, to ASSIST you if you cannot say what YOUR problem is ??????

at least consider::::

if never() then
hideSSN(AI and other stuff)
endif

If (trigger) and never() then
unhideSSN(as per above)
endif

pp:
Once you have attained NIRVANA status(myself) and constantly reminded daily, as a mapper you may consider at a later date, to turn your missions into movies using fraps or 'game cam' many close ups are required of blue team guys doing stuff this can prove tricky, but this can be done at a later date, first lets just get your map of the ground,

PLEASE COMPLETE THE BIN FILE......thank you

MERMITE 06-24-2010 02:02 AM

To 'ell with it, Daves sleeping so lets get a nice CLEAN bin file
I open my pff3 manager I dive to dfx1/language pff file and select the first bin file that I know is an actual mission, C2M01_B.BIN. (Title = "Insurrection";)
I dive to my tools and get the 'bin to text tool' and run that over the bin on my desktop
that gives me a clean easily edited text file, here you can change ANYTHING you want
but as a starter I suggest only change the basics, but do delete <ucFC8932> they are rev. to images that can be done MUCH later

NOTE VIP: VIP: THIS IS FOR A SINGLE PLAYER MAP ONLY:

Once you have changed the Title, Situation, Execution,etc then run the
Text to Bin and name the same as your map drop to game dir, and test.

An evening or afternoon playing with this binery file, will have an ENORMOUSE affect on your mapping ability, it is from here that the mission is built, DON'T BELEIVE ME??? WAIT AN SEE................
