Welcome to NHQ.

We need a few more details than that though mate. What type of computer are you running?

Could you tell us as much as possible?

Thanks.

*have you added a mod to the game?

could be your game JOTR has gone bad totally.

did your computer crash lately

try this Start> Run> chkdsk /f
a box come up press Y then inter.

system restart it, the windows will check to see anything is bad and fix it.

go back to desk top wait 5min then try to play the game again, still freez could be something is butt into the game and making it freez-up.

last you could un-install the game and (save game files XXXXX.sav")deleted the game folder! restart the computer, then re-install the game back in after update it totally. start new.

Can you try it on a friend's PC who has XP?

Have you tried running a compatibility wizard thing on JO? Sometimes when games don't run on Vista that helps.

Can you tell the specs of the computer too...?

like to add to this:

compatibility mod you can find when you right click-on the shortcut and in the listing click-on properties, then up top you should see compatibility tap, from there you can select the OS you like to run the game under select windows system...95/98 & ME, 2000, Xp after you select it then click-on ok

That happened to me when I first had dfbhd.

The solution was to down all the resolution/detail/bit of the game (sorry i cant remember how i managed to do that) because the graphics card your using might not support the game.

like to add to this:

did the game tested the Video card you using and reset to game video setting to match your video card so the game play flawless.

JOTR is basic a highend video game meaning it need a lot of your video card resource for highend system, it your system or video card/ video chip mob are low end it will lockup and some time the game play may not look right.

not 100% but i think JOTR has a auto check video item to use in the game folder. don't know the name of the file. my not install so i can't look sorry.

Ps
iffy this is a copy of the game disc it will never workout! reason some files will not be totally copy onto new disc right at all. you would always get some files & settings go bad with it when it install

Yes, it did some kind of test which involved the screen, video card/graphics card being tried out. A message came back saying something like 'DF:BHD is not supported with your graphics card...', but still took me to the actual game.

It started to crash so i quickly downed all the resolution and almost every detail in options and upgraded my graphics card via nvidia (downloaded from their site).

Now it works perfectly.

Hope this helps,
BB
