a bet of trouble here HD cable
its a IDE type
did have a DVD-IDE remove it way the cable was plug-in to them was MOB----HD (C: ) ---DVD-writer got a new DVD-Writer SATA so like to set it up this way MOB---empty---HD right now its slave connection on the cable. try to reset the Pins on the HD but that was no good and change the Cable so the HD is connected to the end of the cable and not in the meddle of the cable, will i try it would not bootup at all. freaky IDE cable is one of them type without any slot on it, so it only go into the IDE femal end of it. so it can go into open slots ether way, could it be on the MOB it plug-in backwards? the Male in is only box no center slots to use so it can go in ether way, yes even backwards as will. right now its "IDE Cable" MOB------- HD -------Empty like to be MOB ---- Empty ----- HD do it really matter its in the slave slot on in the line up on the IDE Cable? |
if it can go either way, need to make sure the side of the cable with the red edge is on the same side of the ide port on hd with the number 1 pin..
if you look at the bottem of the harddrive next to the port you should be able to see which side has number 1 pin... as for does it matter if it is on end or in middle - not if you manually set it to master. Some drives require that when it is the only drive, that none you don't set it to master or slave- for example, my western digital - when it is the single drive you don't set any of the jumpers. |
will it turn out the cable gone bad, so the center connection is still good
