Egypt terrain port (DFLW)

http://www.deltaforcegaming.com/chri...fx/SS00424.jpg http://www.deltaforcegaming.com/chri...fx/SS00425.jpg I bet the bears would be crazy to get this if I had it up for download... lol. BTW, something weird I noticed in the terrain (not necessarily now but I really found out ages ago), is that in the terrain colourmap, you can see pyramid shapes - these are actually the "shadows" of the pyramid. So Nova went the cheesy way and basically put pyramid building shadows in the colourmap - probably because in LW pyramids couldn't get their own shadows rendered. If there are shadows in LW, then really I dunno lol. Maybe at the time of the terrain creation shadows couldn't be created, and/or or they just decided to make the ground like that... Any comments? Chris :D |
tiles i think you can add them into a map like road/pathways ways and so on

What's it got to do with the thread...?
But yeah tiles you can add into this terrain as well. Chris |
yes the shadows were painted on the colourmap, the DFLW engine doesnt render shadows iirc :)
just the colourmmap ported? the height map looks very wrong for that colourmap, and way too bumpy for a NL terrain. |
Way too bumpy? It looks fine on the ground for me, lol. It was also as bumpy as well in LW, lol wasn't it?
I used DFLW's heightmap to generate the terrain and also the colourmap. I used a current DFX stock terrain .trn file and adjusted it to suit the Egypt terrain's. There were many things I didn't make like a foliage map, etc. so I just used a current stock terrain's foliage map, etc. I can port DF1, DF2, LW, TFD, and BHD/TS terrains to DFX lol - tell me the name, and I'll port it. I'm also able to port DF1, DF2, LW, and TFD terrains to BHD too. Well, only if I've got the time to port stuff. ;) It's amazing though when you get two pictures and compare them when terrain porting.
